BOTULINUM TOXIN
The creases between our eyes, around our eyes, and on our forehead come from using certain facial muscles over and over. These creases make us look worried, unapproachable, and older. The muscles that form these creases are involuntary so we can’t consciously relax them to make the creases disappear.
Fortunately we have a treatment, botulinum toxin, which can relax these busy muscles for us. Botulinum toxin can also lift our eyebrows and make our eyes appear more open. The result is that we look more relaxed, fresh, and youthful.
Botox, or BOTOX® Cosmetic, is a popular brand of botulinum toxin. Botox has become synonymous with quick beautification, and with good reason. Approximately 11 million treatments of BOTOX® Cosmetic have been performed since introduction.
The FDA-cleared brands of botulinum toxin we have available are: Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin. These products have EXACTLY the same active ingredient, botulinum toxin. They differ only in the proteins that surround that ingredient. All are very effective, although some seem to work better than others in different individuals.
Please note that botulinum toxin should be injected at our office by a trained certified provider. This person knows how and where to place the injection safely and for the best result.
